Electric Ireland introduces sustainable awards across GAA and Camogie sponsorships

Electric Ireland is delighted to share a fantastic initiative that showcases our commitment to sustainability and our partnership with the GAA & Camogie Association! This year, across the Electric Ireland GAA Higher Education Championships and Camogie Third Level Championships, we implemented sustainable Player of the Match and Team of the Year awards. A total of 70 awards, presented across all competitions including the Ashbourne, Sigerson, and Fitzgibbon Cups, were crafted from renewable beechwood.
This initiative directly reflects our environmental policy and our ongoing efforts to minimise our environmental footprint.
Each award was individually hand-made by a Dublin based company that manufacture and distribute custom designs, with a focus on sustainability in every product they offer. The finished awards held a sleek and polished look. The custom design ensured the awards were uniquely fitted to each code with a camogie player featuring on the camogie awards, a hurler featuring on the hurling awards and a football player featuring on the football awards.
This initiative sets the tone for Electric Ireland's future Player of the Match and Team of the Year awards across the Minor Championships.
The project demonstrates how simple it can be to incorporate sustainable practices into even the most straightforward activities, like award-giving. The choice of sustainable materials offers a compelling alternative to traditional trophies and highlights the potential for environmentally responsible choices in sporting events.
