Closing date for Sustainable Energy Awards 2015 entries is fast approaching

There is just under two weeks left for businesses and individuals alike to get their entries in for the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) Sustainable Energy Awards.

Now in its 12th year, the awards look towards recognising individuals, groups, businesses and organisations who go that extra mile when it comes to saving energy in an effort to encourage excellence in energy management. The awards are opened to both public, private and community organisations from either the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland and range from electricity, heat or transport initiatives.

This year, we’re excited to be sponsoring the awards which are looking for innovative solutions to energy saving that have a strong replication potential across all sectors.

Organisations that have taken part in the annual awards previously have achieved up to €1 billion in energy savings, and the SEAI are encouraging entrants this year to be a part of that.

“We have seen strong leadership in recent years with public and private organisations driving the sustainable energy agenda in Ireland. This has been reflected in the Awards with very impressive entries and greater collaboration as communities and other sectors work together to deliver energy savings. This year’s Awards will expand on these developments and I encourage those who are making sustainable energy achievements to enter and be part of our €1 billion energy saving club!” - Brian Motherway, Chief Executive of SEAI.

Entries are divided into 8 categories, including: collaboration, research, community award, large business award, public sector award, small business award, leadership and innovation.

To mark the Year of Irish Design 2015, SEAI have also recently added a ninth special award category for ‘Design in Sustainable Energy’. This category awards entries where a design approach has improved the quality and effectiveness of the experience for the end user of a sustainable energy product or service.

Last year’s winners, Aran Islands Renewable Energy Ltd, were awarded for their range of energy projects to develop the islands as energy self-sustaining and carbon neutral with the aim of delivering energy independence by 2022.

The closing date for entries is 5pm on Friday the 26th of June. The winners from each category will be announced at a gala event in Dublin in November.
