What does the Free Electricity Allowance cover?

The Department of Social Protection has set the rate for the Free Electricity Allowance at €35.00 per month. This allowance will appear as a credit of €1.15* per day on your Electric Ireland electricity bill.

* This will appear on your electricity bill as -€1.15068493

You should also note that the allowance does not cover the cost of installing an electricity supplyin your home.

In order to apply, you must have an Electric Ireland account in your own name.

If the account is not in your name, you can contact us on 1800 372 372 to have your name changed on the account.
