Information for Smartzone and Climote customers

Who is SmartZone?

SmartZone, Electric Ireland’s recommended Electric Vehicle (EV) home charger installer, has gone into receivership.

SmartZone will be working with its lenders and appointed Receiver to complete this process. While SmartZone will continue to trade as normal during this time, EV chargers will no longer be installed with immediate effect. Customer Service will continue to be provided by SmartZone in a limited capacity during the receivership process. Electric Ireland will be updated by the receivers in due course as to the status of SmartZone as the Receivership process progresses.

Background

Since October 2022, Electric Ireland has operated a referral agreement with SmartZone in relation to the installation of home EV chargers whereby customers interested in installing home chargers submitted an expression of interest online form which was securely sent to SmartZone. From this point onwards, all customer interaction is direct with SmartZone which manages surveys, quotes, payment, scheduling, installation, and aftercare service.

This week, Accuflow Distribution Ltd (trading as SmartZone) entered into receivership.

During this process, SmartZone will continue to work with its customers.

Two models of home chargers were installed:

  • BG Sync EV (tethered & untethered)
  • Autel Maxicharger (tethered & untethered)

Both above models are controlled via the Monta smartphone app (also branded as SmartZone powered by Monta). All chargers installed will continue to operate as normal going forward. Any technical or account difficulties should be directed directly to SmartZone who continue to service customers during the receivership process.

Who is Climote?

Joint provisional liquidators have been appointed to Climote Limited a firm that has installed and maintains home heating controllers in tens of thousands of homes.

One of the company's main products was a remote heating controller that allows its customers, via an app on their phones, to control their home heating systems and reduce energy bills.

These devices require ongoing service and maintenance through Climote. The appointment of the liquidators will ensure that its maintenance services will be provided until the firm's assets have been sold.

During the process, Climote will continue to trade as normal during this time. Customer Service will continue to be provided by Climote to all customers during this time.

Background

Electric Ireland first launched Climote in 2012. Electric Ireland stopped installing Climate Controls in early 2022. We handed over the support for Climote the product, back to Climote the company in Q1 2022 and no longer have any direct relationship with the customer for the service.
