Electric Ireland supplied 50% more green electricity to Irish businesses year on year in 2020



Electric Ireland supplied 50% more electricity sourced from renewable generation year-on-year to Irish businesses in 2020, continuing its long track record of supporting the development of renewable generation projects in Ireland. The increase in supply of green electricity in 2020 now means that over two thirds of Electric Ireland’s business electricity supply to customers is 100% green electricity.

Electric Ireland is committed to assisting businesses in meeting their sustainability objectives through significant changes like a switch to 100% green electricity. As Ireland’s leading energy supplier to business customers, Electric Ireland’s proven experience and competitive pricing is helping organisations of all sizes around the country to easily make this switch.

Organisations which have switched to 100% green electricity from Electric Ireland span many sectors including education, public sector, transport, food, manufacturing, technology and hospitality. Electric Ireland is proud to work in delivering green electricity for the likes of Accenture/Rothco, AW Ennis, Cobh Golf Club, Cork Airport, the Europe Hotel, PwC, and Total Produce.

In all of 2020, Electric Ireland supplied businesses with 7.8 TWh of green electricity which is the equivalent amount of powering electricity to over 1.8 million homes.

Electric Ireland’s business markets unit supplies, and provides expert advice on, electricity, gas and innovative energy services for businesses in Ireland and works with organisations from large energy users to SMEs to provide flexible and affordable energy solutions. 

Electric Ireland will continue to work hard for our customers in managing their energy usage efficiently through the supply of green electricity and through our consultancy and data services. Collaborating and providing support to business customers is a key element of Electric Ireland’s strategy in leading the transition to a low-carbon future.

This has been able to be delivered through Business Online, a platform which provides a range of online services to help businesses manage their energy information. Through Business Online, small and medium sized businesses can also avail of SME Premium Insights which offers businesses greater control and provides personal recommendations on how to optimise energy usage and reduce energy bills.
