Electric Ireland signs €60 million contract to supply electricity to Government bodies and security services sites

All Garda Stations, Prisons, Defence Force sites and Government buildings to be powered under deal

Electric Ireland has today announced a new contract with the Office of Government Procurement worth over €60 million to supply electricity to Government bodies and security services across Ireland over the next three years. The agreement will see Electric Ireland deliver an estimated 177,000 MWh of electricity, the equivalent to powering over 42,000 households. The contract is to supply electricity to all Government Departments, Leinster House, An Garda Síochána sites, The Irish Defence Forces bases, Ireland’s Prison Services and the Coast Guard operations. The energy supplied meets the Government’s green energy requirements through to 2019.

The contract awarded is for a three-year period and commences on 1 November 2019. 

Electric Ireland’s business markets unit supplies, and provides expert advice on, electricity, gas and innovative energy services for businesses in Ireland from large users of energy like manufacturing plants and datacentres through to medium sized operations and small businesses. Electric Ireland works with organisations from a variety of sectors including pharmaceutical, manufacturing, tech, food and hospitality to provide flexible and affordable energy solutions.
